On Christ the King, Advent, and the New Digital Continent

Sunday Gospel Reflections

As the Solemnity of Christ the King will be celebrated this 22nd
of November, we can thank the Lord for all His providential
guidance and blessings to every member of our family and for all
Christian families in the world. On November 29, Sunday, we will
begin a new liturgical year (C), with the first Sunday of Advent.
This is the season that prepares us spiritually to find a deeper
meaning to the birth of our Savior on Christmas. In preparation
for all of these, given below are gospel reflections wherein we
can nourish our spirit with God's wisdom:
"Learn a lesson from the fig tree"
"My kingdom does not belong to this world"

Stigmatics: Francis of Assisi and Padre Pio

We continue this Series of blog posts by focusing this time on
stigmatists. It may come as a surprise to learn that it was not
only St. Francis of Assisi and St. Pio of Pietrelcina who bore
the stigmata in their physical bodies. Research has established
about 326 cases of stigmatization, with more than 60 of them
canonized in the altar of the Church. This blog post on the
phenomenon of stigmatization also mentions the criteria which the
Church came up with to judge the authenticity of these phenomenon.

Learning the Importance of Balance

We can learn a lot from the history of our Church. Cluny was a
great reform movement in monasticism. The Cistercians sprung from
this spirit of reform and perfected the balance necessary to the
monastic way of living: liturgical prayer, sacred reading, labor
to support themselves and their studies. This historical
development in monasticism can help us see the importance of
balance in our own state of life and Christian vocation. When we
are able to balance all elements in our Christian way of living,
this can lead us to health of body and soul, and prepare us for
better service to God, Church, and family.

For Catholic web developers

21 Leads to Better Web Content Writing

This article gives 21 leads to help the Catholic web developer
write content for his site and blog. The ideas include blogging,
publishing content in real-time, and link resources from Catholic
news sites and technology sites. By organizing all these in a
content delivery system (such as FriendFeed, Facebook, Twitter),
and writing in a style that combines classic material with
current news events, we can have better and more relevant content
in our site and blog.

Saving an Old PC System and its Peripherals

We can save our old desktop PC by integrating it with our new PC
system. We can still use our XP OS and other computer peripherals
that work with it, for all offline work. One idea is to place
old and new PC system adjacent to one another so that they can
share one good monitor.

Networking with Catholics in its fullness

We can make the Web a platform for networking in its fullest
sense by also learning basic and small web development. Aside
from our social networking activities in such sites as Facebook,
MySpace, LinkedIn, Twitter and Hi5, if we learn how to develop
our own Catholic web site and blog, then our networking will be
complete and full. With a site and blog as our own platform, we
can be integrated with the very fabric the Web was woven since
the beginning, and continue to be part of its growth and
evolution.
